THE VINEYARDS

The Volcano, architect of Aglianico del Vulture

Nature gave a gift to the lands of Vulture, in Basilicata, the Volcano that enriched them over the centuries with its eruptions and lava flows, and it is on these lands that an ancient grape variety produces one of the best grapes, turned in a red noble wine by the work of man: the Aglianico del Vulture.

a
GEOGRAPHY

The geographical advantage of mount Vulture is strictly connected to climate, this is a southern area the clime of which is very similar to the northern one. Long day light hours and high thermic excursions are the elements that characterize these places unique for their climatic and soil conditions.

s
CLIMATE

The areas are well ventilated, the ideal altitude for the cultivation of Aglianico del Vulture is between 400-500 meters a.s.l. up to 800 meters a.s.l. with Pinot Noir in the Contrada Calata delle Brecce.

s
SOILS

The variety of the eruptive material deposited along the slopes of the Vulture and its different compositions are the tangible demonstration of the diversity of the various soils and crops in the entire area of the Vulture.

s
GRAPES

The Vulture can be considered from the wine-growing point of view "the place of wonders", one of the few areas in the world where it is possible to cultivate every variety of vines. It is sufficient to vary exposure and altitude, Aglianico is cultivated at altitudes ranging from 300 to 500 meters a.s.l., white grapes between 500 and 650 meters a.s.l. to reach extreme altitudes up to 800 meters a.s.l. where it is possible to breed Pinot Noir with excellent results.

What people say...

“Il mio 'primo' aglianico del Vulture”. Riccardo Cotarella pronuncia con un motto di orgoglio queste parole invitandomi all’assaggio. Si chiama Nocte, ed è una etichetta storica di Terra dei Re.
